First page of Women Entrepreneurs in Tourism Industry for Economic Empowerment: Exploring Literature for Future Research Trends

Women entrepreneurs in the tourism industry, often referred to as women tourism entrepreneurs, have made significant contributions to the field. Women’s economic empowerment may be aided by encouraging them to start businesses in the tourism sector (Abou-Shouk et al., 2021; Vukovic et al., 2023). It offers possibilities for generating money, building wealth, and achieving financial independence. Women business owners provide a variety of viewpoints to the tourist sector, resulting in more creative and inclusive solutions. They can cater to female tourists’ unique requirements and preferences, who account for a sizable share of the tourism business. Women-owned tourism businesses have the potential to generate jobs in their neighbourhoods, promoting local economic growth and eradicating poverty (Arora & Sharma, 2021; Arora & Singh, 2018; Brush & Hisrich, 1999; Rodríguez Gutiérrez et al., 2014). Women business owners frequently donate their profits to their neighbourhoods to fund social activities, infrastructure upgrades, and community development projects. Entrepreneurs in the tourism industry are frequently more likely to use ethical and responsible business methods (Jaafar et al., 2011; Murniati et al., 2021; Samiei & Akhoondzadeh, 2014). They are more inclined to think about how their actions may affect the environment and society. Entrepreneurs with diverse voices produce more original ideas and inventive solutions (Arora, 2016; Dhiman & Arora, 2024a; Owalla et al., 2021). When tackling problems and creating new goods and services, women offer their distinctive experiences and perspectives.
