Opportunities for women in coaching NCAA basketball continue to dwindle. Providing women with support and guidance through mentoring is a necessary mechanism through which coaching skills and opportunities are cultivated. The Stanford Way offers one model of leadership-mentoring that has successfully created coaching opportunities for many women who played and coached for the Stanford women’s basketball team.
