The Egan Report “Rethinking Construction” concluded that the industry did not need to review what it does and do it better but to do it entirely differently. This study reviews how specialist concrete contractors can contribute to sustainable concrete construction and benefit from achievements. The drivers for change are identified together with current barriers limiting progress. The framework of economic aspects and government related issues is developed, that would allow contractors to provide more clients with environmentally sensitive concrete structures.
