A Peer Coaching Circle (PCC) is a small group of faculty members from a similar career stage who meet regularly to support each other’s personal and professional goals. PCCs are a solutions-focused mechanism, offering self-sustaining, ongoing access to targeted faculty development. We differentiate peer coaching from peer mentoring by identifying four goals of peer coaching and outlining a three-stage PCC framework that highlights the structured and intentional approach needed to launch and develop an impactful PCC experience. Qualitative data from national, professional development programs for early career STEM faculty demonstrate that PCCs are a highly impactful form of faculty development.
