The purpose of this book is to explain how the role of a Project Manager interacts with Building Information Modelling (BIM), how that role may need to be adapted to suit the requirements of BIM and how BIM can beneficially impact upon the roles, responsibilities and functions of a Project Manager.

BIM (which is sometimes alternatively referred to as Building Information Management) is a process that relies on a computerised 3D Model of a built asset, with data attached, which is capable of reacting to changes in the ‘virtual’ world in the same way that the physical built asset would react when actually constructed.
