Emerald Studies in Global Strategic Responsiveness
The socio-economic conditions that circumscribe contemporary multinational organizations and international (business) activities are multi-dimensional and affected by a diversity of emergent elements where the eventual effects are unpredictable and often have potentially extreme outcomes. The related exposures are expressed in different unruly phenomena like financial crisis social unrest political and military conflicts global regulation technology invention product/process innovation shifts in industry structure competitive disruption pandemics resource degradation climate change natural and manmade disasters. Many of these challenging circumstances are highly complex and present wicked problems with no simple solutions that constitute threats to current ways of operating but also provide opportunities for adaptive renewal that can benefit individual organizations and society alike.
The Emerald Studies in Global Strategic Responsiveness aspires to disseminate new inspiring research insights as a potential catalyst for the development of effective approaches to deal with the exposures imposed by dynamic complexities in the global business environment. The implied organizational and societal challenges require effective responses from both public and private organizations induced by supportive policy initiatives. The associated challenges are beyond the control of executive powers and exceed the capacity of single institutions thus underpinning a call for collaborative approaches and collective actions to foster viable solutions for a sustainable future.
